Kat Debuts Radio Story at SAM Radio to Great Success

This afternoon, I had the exciting opportunity to debut my very own radio story at SAM Radio, based at St Margaret’s House—and what an experience it was.

The piece, which I both wrote and performed, ran for around five minutes and featured a range of characters, each with their own distinct voice and personality. Bringing them all to life was so much fun. It also meant mastering the microphone, carefully controlling tone and pace so each character felt real for listeners.

Alongside the performance, I had to stay in sync with the music cues, making sure every transition landed at exactly the right moment.

Balancing voice work with timing added an extra layer of challenge, but it also made the whole piece feel complete.

Performing the story in this way turned it into something much more interesting than words on a page. It became a full audio experience, and that’s what made it so rewarding.

One guest at St Margaret’s House who tuned in shared some lovely feedback, describing it as “a warm, witty escape—just the kind of storytelling that lifts your mood after a long day.”

Hearing that meant a lot, and it’s incredibly encouraging as I continue developing more stories.

This is just the beginning, and I’m already working on the next piece. I hope you’ll tune in for future broadcasts—there’s plenty more to come!
